#Decklust: Afroceltofuturism, No Mow May & Gremlins in the shop
Hey combabes,
Belated International Workers Day greetings, love and solidarity (something we should be acknowledging and celebrating every day anyway amiright) and a happy Beltane to boot!
Here in the UK, we’re also mid ‘no mow May’ which feels apt as a life motto to me right now: don’t mow your lawn / do unnecessary aesthetic jobs (unless - important side note - they bring you extreme pleasure) and let the pollinators / us live our best lives: free, surrounded by wildflowers, focused on rest and replenishment. I am that kind of to-the-bone exhausted after several weeks of deadline-after-deadline in my house, and a birthday giving me that reflection moment. Saying it aloud for accountability: this next cycle round the sun, I embrace rest. This next cycle round the sun, I deserve rest. Exhale. Close eyes.
One of the more fun deadlines I was working to: I made a Major Arcanas' deck! I’ve got that funny experience of all the multitudes of self sitting and experiencing the feeling of saying that out loud: the noisy imposter-syndrome one, the beaming proud child, and everyone in-between. Which is kinda what the deck is all about: our many selves, the many facets of our inner worlds, including all the messy and icky bits, in dialogue with one another. All through an (emerging genre) Afroceltofuturist lens. Read more here!
Shop micro-move / haiii gremlins
Kaan and I just did a micro-move of the shop (i.e. moved it from a temporary room in a space to a new, hopefully more permanent room in the same space). We have had a number of weird inventory gremlin issues recently (as some of you will know all too well already!) so we took the opportunity of moving everything (apparently we have A LOT of tarot cards, who knew ) to do a full stock take. And those gremlins have been busy. Some things we found in their lair…
- One lonely Many Moons Planner and a handful of Dreaming the World To Come Planners - now reduced to clear, so get yourself a bargain for the months remaining on these utterly gorgeous books.
- Some extra Gay Marseille decks! WHAT! Particularly exciting as Charlie Claire Burgess isn’t shipping to the UK at the moment. We’ve got a couple of reduced bumped decks and one non-bumped deck. (And don’t forget the cute-as-hell tarot cloths)
- A whole stack of New Orleans Oracle decks which had been showing as out of stock; and a couple of sneaky Zines of Many Doors.
- A whole box of Precious Panda Paw Pouches and one last Baby Panda deck.
- A stack of the utterly gorgeous Dust II Onyx pocket decks (this artwork is just beautiful, and still one of my fav decks of all time) and the skilfully photographed Melanade Stand's decks, now further reduced.
- Power & Magic volumes 1 & 2
What a treasure trove...
We’re so pleased to have these lush, gentle decks back in: an embrace from our elders, an ode to the ancestors that came before and the ones we can become. I always feel invited to curiosity and care in this deck. Sadly, they got a bit bumped up on their journey across the Atlantic, so we’re offering them at a reduced price, and with a linen tarot bag to accompany them.
Phew. We know you’ve been waiting for it and it’s finally (almost) here: Beth’s reprint of All of Our Stories. We’re expecting it back on our shelves this week.
It’s felt like a constant scramble to keep up with tariffs and shipping changes since Kaan and I took the shop on last September, from the will-they-won’t-they US sitch through to these newest changes from the EU and France. In short, we’re having to increase shipping rates fairly dramatically for France (which we also had to do for the US a few months ago) to account for these tariffs. We'll continue to committing to keeping these as low as we possibly can. Read more here.
And… exhale.
Wishing you all some no-mow vibes from our new den.
Elena xx
P.S. After (above: how so pretty, shop!); before (below: this shop is definitely not straight)
