The Rosebud Tarot is a 78-card tarot deck based on the structure and images found in the classic Rider-Waite-Smith. Its images, created by Amanda Lee Stilwell, are digital collage dreamscape pathways into archetype.
Its guidebook, written by Diana Rose Harper, is heartopening mythopoetry that gives keys to meaning, not just keywords to memorize.
Roses are so deeply generous with others, while equally so with themselves. They are a multisensory experience, a healer and a lover, a poet and a doctor, a perfumer and a path to the divine.?
All while embodying perfect boundaries.
Rose is a through-line in the Rosebud Tarot, a rose-gold thread weaving its way into each line of the Major Arcana and into the heart of every Minor. The playfulness and sharp edges of Rose shimmer through every reading, each card’s dream-layer collage a petal of insight.
Without Rose, this deck could not exist, and its poetry would be as flat as a cheap perfume.
Because of Rose, this deck sings.

Diana and Amanda have deliberately chosen to rename several of the cards in the deck, including renaming the court cards.
We’ve made this choice as part of the larger project that several deck creators have been participating in for years: bringing the images & language of the tarot into a contemporary context, acknowledging gender multiplicity, and moving towards archetypal depictions that are more resonant for modern meaning-making.
A list of the Major Arcana cards we’ve renamed:
- THE FOOL becomes THE YOUTH
- THE MAGICIAN becomes THE MAGE
- THE HIGH PRIESTESS becomes THE WITCH
- THE EMPRESS becomes THE LIFEGIVER
- THE EMPEROR becomes THE ELDER
- THE HIEROPHANT becomes THE PROFESSOR
- THE HERMIT becomes THE SEEKER
- THE HANGED MAN becomes THE HANG-UP
- TEMPERANCE becomes ALCHEMY
- JUDGEMENT becomes EMERGENCE
When it comes to court cards, we have chosen to highlight a core quality each of the courts embodies:
- PAGES become CURIOSITY
- KNIGHTS become VELOCITY
- QUEENS become GENEROSITY
- KINGS become SOVEREIGNTY
Additionally, we have chosen to highlight the elements for each minor arcana suit, rather than using the traditional titles.
- PENTACLES become EARTH
- CUPS become WATER
- WANDS become FIRE
- SWORDS become AIR
- 78 Cards, measuring 3”x4.5”, printed on playing card stock with an embossed linen finish
- 64-page colour guidebook
- Deck and book presented together in a sturdy two-part box.
