Eurovision was a travesty.
I mean, Eurovision is pretty much always a travesty (except where Conchita Wurst is concerned, obvs.)
This year though, the contest was exceptionally upsetting. So much witchy goddess wonderfulness. So few correctly-allocated points.
BEHOLD Azerbaijan: Hour of the Wolf
The weirdest, witchiest, most ugly-beautiful performance of all – performed by Elnur Huseynov and two AMAZING carazy-wolf-people – and it came in 12th. Booo.
I will beat on the drum, rise above with me
I will go till I’m numb, rise above with me
No I won’t sleep tonight
They whine and roar, hungry for more
Yellow glowing eyes, I’m hypnotised
I feel brave yet scared, but I’ll stay prepared
Tell it, Elnur.
Other non-winning highlights include:
Georgia: Nina Sublatti – Warrior (23rd place)
Latvia: Aminata Savadogo (6th place)
Or as we called her, the magical red lady
Serbia: Bojana Stamenov – Beauty Never Lies (8th place)
“Finally I can say / I am different and it’s okay”
Had to love her description on the Eurovision website: “I know how to knit and cook… But, watch out, my voice will blow up your mind”, she says about herself.
Now tell me how any of these spellbinding performances could be trounced by those straight-ass performances from Italy and Russia. Rubbish!
