Our favourite tarot decks

We love all the decks that we sell in the Little Red Tarot Shop…

…but of course there are a few that are extra close to our hearts.

Here’s a quick roundup of our favourite decks (and a couple of books, too)!

The Numinous Tarot Deck & Guidebook

This gorgeous, colourful, super-inclusive tarot deck has it all – including a full-length guidebook so that even tarot newbies can get started right away. The deck is gender-neutral and has a young, compassionate, encouraging vibe. I love it!

The Pagan Otherworlds Tarot

Another favourite among LRT customers, this classical tarot is an absolute stunner (and an Instagram hit!) Hand oil-painted in renaissance style, this deck leans on Northern European pagan symbolism and is filled with lush imagery rooted in nature. Guidebook available separately.

Thea’s Tarot

My personal favourite, Thea’s Tarot is a queer feminist classic – first self-published in 1984 by artist Ruth West, it was recently picked up by queer publisher Metonymy Press and re-released along with a new guidebook, She Is Sitting in the Night. It’s an LGBTQ intergenerational conversation, illustrated in gorgeous papercut art showing queer folks of all stripes, colours, bodies and presentations.

She Is Sitting in the Night

Written to accompany Thea’s Tarot, this brilliant tarot guidebook can be used with any deck, offering modern, progressive, DIY-culture interpretations of the classic cards. (It’s the tarot book I wish I had written!)

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom

Written in the 70s by the awesome trans Jewish lesbian tarot veteran Rachel Pollack, Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom is now a classic tarot text and we proudly stock it. A universally brilliant tarot guidebook which delves deep into the tarot and its themes and symbolism, this is a great gift for anyone who reads tarot, whether experienced or total beginner. I turn to my dog-eared copy all the time.
